Due to personal circumstances, I have not written for a while.

The details are irrelevant, because sharing them serves no purpose in helping anyone.

Instead, I would like to look at the components of personal strength, because they are far greater than just maintaining a positive outlook.

Kind people often advise to “keep positive,” but trying to do so: – is to hope that a helium balloon, once buoyant and bouncy: will last forever, when really it will wilt and fall, serving no lasting function, other than yesterday’s smile.

We must gather genuine units of soul- nutritious personal strength by dismantling our psyche, and bravely and honestly looking for, and changing the hindering traits that deflate the strength of us now, if we are to elevate into the best version of ourselves.

Whilst I have been dormant for a while, my life now an entirely new landscape, I am lucky to know, and so have consistently maintained, a healthy diet. Fresh produce has a plethora of nutritional benefits, and we must eat the recommended quantities of fruits and vegetables’ which are packed with complex vitamins that our bodies and minds need to function. Our health is our single most important asset, and there is much proven linkage between a poor diet and mental wellness. It is the key component of personal strength.

The World Health Organization, are midst seeking experts to develop guidelines on the consumption of ultra processed foods, by way of improving mental health.

Additionally, and irrespective of our physical health, we must exercise within the restraints of our physical impairments.’ Whilst my disability has grown further challenging, simple stretching is a daily tool that we can all invest in doing.

The key anchorage of personal strength is in how we look after our bodies, with habitual consistency. Set aside just ten minutes – to start with every morning, notice the difference in your mobility after a mere seven days. Accentuate the results by making delicious roast vegetables, fruit salads, or soups; bulk prepare them for the fridge, or freezer.

As you do so, you will notice a widening expanse of blue-sky mind clarity, and it is tempting to melt, or drift off in the sensation. Instead allocate set times for relaxing, keeping mindful about how long you sit on the sofa for. This is because you are entering new horizons, and in this space is the chance to be self- honest about who you are and how you want to improve. Many people are not truthful about what their aspirations are, or they get deterred by problems and obstacles… yet just in any landscape – the balloon cannot freely monopolize the sky. It must first navigate over roof tops, cables, and trees. We all have problems, and we must anticipate and expect them. In so, we get better at solving them, and it is helpful to remember that every human has their own to solve, or seek help with…

Nurturing this realisation is liberating. We are acknowledging the landscape of what we have which will assist us in directing us to new horizons.

I hope you find this helpful.

With SUNNY wishes, Emma
