Similarly to professional sports people, we must set realistic goals to achieve the things we desire in our lives. A footballer ultimately wants to net the ball, it is the goal or focal point, but there are many disciplines’ they need to factor – in, to achieve this. We need goals because they reveal and state the precise desires we have, and the steps we need to take. They highlight the tasks we need to do, to reach our goals, and they keep us on track and focused. With a footballer, these tasks will include: regular training, eating, and sleeping well. Moreover, they keep their minds sharp, and so avoid the mind weed of limiting self-belief.

But what can you do when matters do not go to plan – and you find yourself needing to reset your goals? You get back to your foundation, this is how you; it is to switch off. Pretend you have a cold, because you need a spell of solitude. It is far from wasting time, it is putting Number One in reset mode. To do this, you must get outside. As a disabled person, with impaired balance, I know this can be challenging. I am blessed that I can walk, but if you can’t, try to sit by an open ground floor window.  If you are confined to bed, watch nature, or listen to the magic of it. It is the original immersive experience. We breathe better under a canopy of embracing, arm-like branches. We instantly feel soothed. Help Number One, by purposefully, inhaling through nose, holding, then exhaling through pursed lips. (Imagine it, with the help of pictures or sound – if you can’t get out)-

Do so marveling up at the magnificent stunning trees, their leafy branches stroking your crown… and then tap into as many magical human senses – that you are lucky to have: touch, hear, smell, taste. What can you hear, how many species of birdsong, can you count, know, or see. What does the sound and sight of the marshy river, or salty sea do to you. Can you feel the atoms of you, or your soul, smile inside at you. I tend to feel popping candy-like exciting tingles in my tummy. My personal fuel is resetting. The space for calm clearer thinking: to sprout new ideas, and angles to your heart’s desires. These things are growing new thoughts subconsciously.

Such as the visual, visceral immersive stimulus of the natural planet; that it is equally soothing for us, as much as it is empowering. The grounding scent of mother earth, is plugging us back to our origin.

Being outside is to comb your soul, and calm your mind. Consciously touch tree trunks, soil, crouch down to take in every wondrous scent, brush up your knowledge on the safe and edible free berries, greens, and nuts. In my woods, we have delicious tiny wild strawberries and cherries; nibble at some, and leave the rest for the birds, squirrels, and deer.

Make tuning-in, and turning to our precious earth: habit-forming, you will soon yearn for it, if you don’t already… Because whenever my goals go askew, as they have done recently; I feel very lucky, that I learned to do as I describe. I was blessed to have an incredible grandmother who gifted me with our love of nature, and all the immersive support and clarity, and inner peace- it will also gift to you.

I hope you find this helpful.

With SUNNY wishes,
