Like you, there are many actors and performers whom I admire greatly; probably too many to list, but here are some of mine: Jodie Foster / Morgan Freeman/ Johnny Depp / Cillian Murphy / Tom Hardy / Jimi Hendrix / Bowie and Blondie: to name but a few.

You might like these artists’ too? Of course, now that I’ve got you, and me thinking: – I bet we could name endless people in the entertainment industry who we think are fantastic: Fantastic Stars, yet no different to us. We are simply humans doing what we can to earn a crust, and hopefully follow our passions along the way.

Naturally, though, and despite it doing nothing to nourish a good sense of mental wellness: comparing ourselves to others, is something deep-seated, in the primal part of our brain.  We all do it subconsciously. Even those people in the spotlight, – I bet.

Although we’re thousands of years past our Homo sapiens: evolving into the highly intelligent and sophisticated race that we are today: it can be hard, but not impossible to rid of this clunky, unhelpful basic human trait of making comparisons.

We’d hope that the envy of another child’s toy, might have been left in the bygone playground years’: and yet, especially when our mood is low; we revert to it: an unhelpful switch in our minds.

Yet, if we remember that our favourite actors / performers, are just the same, then we can start to dismantle our emotions, and: switch-: compare to its positive version; and rather than plainly: simply looking up to them: we can firstly recall that they function the same as we do. We can start to make more constructive comparisons.

Additionally, because they’re only human, we are reminded they’ll have the same spectrum of emotions as we do!

We can start viewing them as being on a level playing field as us…

But wait, we still think they are brilliant. So, what are the qualities that you admire in them? What can you become consciously aware of now? Is it their fearless attitude? Could it be their devotion to their art: physical training to the extreme-, just so they can undertake their own stunts?

Perhaps it’s their tough upbringings, and their decades of struggling and sacrifices that you admire.

Can you relate to them? What aspects about how they conduct themselves can you borrow? Pop it on as though a loan of a jacket by a friend. Get to like it so much that you “buy” one for yourself!

This calls to mind a “jacket” that I’ve borrowed, and now “purchased” from Tommy Shelby!

His wonderful ability to enjoy the silence, say few selective words. He is cool and collected; he usually keeps calm… Calm is not a natural gift for me: yet I’m learning the benefits.  It is a developing useful tool that I’ve borrowed from the silver screen !

I hope you find this useful.

SUNNY wishes,
