The best motivator in the world is you!
You are the boss of number one, in spite of other people’s kind loving advice and support.
So, with this in mind, they’ll be things that you don’t want to do… but you have to.
These could be in various aspects of your lifestyle, and when you take that first step towards making self-improvements’; I promise that you’ll feel delighted with yourselves. It’s like finding the thread of a ball of wool, and it’s empowering.
For me, exercise and keeping as fit as possible, always feels like a boring chore. I seldom feel like layering up to face the cold evening, but I have to…
Of course, I’m willing for the sun to return; but even during the colder months’, unless it’s raining, then I’ll be outside: exercising, – to the best of my ability.
If I don’t: “use it, then I’ll lose it”. I am both aware and blessed that I can talk and walk, irrespective of the early prognosis: that I’d not be able to do either.
Whilst I’m in boring permanent pain- due to the cerebral palsy, I don’t allow it to either define nor rule me, and I’m not an Olympian: I just do simple stretching exercises, and specially adapted movements, that my fabulous physiotherapist has given me.
I can’t walk my dog, so she attends doggy school during the daytime. But she comes home full of bounce and joy, so she needs to spring about. I owe it to her to be her playmate!
Because my balance, is let’s say wonky, I have various things strategically placed about my garden to help me from toppling over. I keep a chair on my decking, which feels like it’s winking at me, to help encourage me outside.
I have increased my reps to thirty, per movement, and have deliberately chosen this number, as it matches my daughter’s age. So, whilst she no longer lives at home; this too feels like she’s helping me from afar.
When I’ve completed my stint, I reward myself with a cup of tea. Whilst I’m preparing the dinner, I stick some sounds on, and dance to celebrate another lot of daily exercise completed.
Above all, keeping consistent greatly improves my frame of mind. I am pleased that I’ve been building on this routine, for several years now…
Moreover, it’s combed my head, and I’ve started addressing other things that I don’t want to do, but have to.
I hope you find this helpful.
SUNNY wishes,
Emma x
