This morning when I woke up, I was blessed to have the sunshine warm my face. I laid still: in the moment, as I noticed the heat on my closed lids. It felt so soothing, but I got fidgety, as I’m still learning the art of self–care!
But, I said to myself: “No Emma, slow down, enjoy and count to sixty, it’s only one minute!”
I reminded myself that self-care isn’t indulgent, that it can be fitted in: -anytime, day or night, and that it’s good for the soul. It doesn’t need to take long, and it can be done spontaneously!
As I started slowly counting, with my eyes closed, I noticed beautiful hues of golds and tangerine behind my lids. There were merging little star-like dots of, purple and white.
I allowed the minute to ride over a bit and appreciated the heat on my neck, and on the back of my hands… the cool breeze through my opened window: It evoked gentle pleasant Goosebumps.
I opened my eyes, by now I needed to spend a penny!
But, guess what? I truly felt topped up by the sun, as though I were an electric car being charged at a station.
It felt as though I’d been massaged by the sunrays. The beautiful natural lighting, the pretty carnival of pastel, and the vibrant colours that I saw. It was just for me: a fun kaleidoscope of energy and possibility. It evoked lovely memories with my siblings.
Suffice to say, I enjoyed a bouncy day and a wonderful walk by the river.
It was such a short and simple thing that I did. I almost missed the chance to. But luckily, I spoke good sense to myself, and it paid off.
Every small moment that you look after yourselves soon starts to notice.
Try giving it a go, let me know how you get on. It feels really nice.
