Throughout life friends join the ship of us. We form Friend Ships, and we hope to find the genuine few with whom we can consistently charter new waters. To keep a look- out from one another’s crow’s nests – in the challenging choppy sea of life, and not just during times of vibrancy.

With no judgment and regardless of the weather conditions.

In our informative years we’re generous with our deck.  If we started life – plunged into the deep, by impairment, or on a shaky plank of dire experience; then we tend to giveaway the space in our vessel: – Exchange it for cheap liquor and meaningless banter.

As we travel around the oceans of our lives, the slower we reach the destiny of self-awareness, and self-honesty: – the more poor-quality -souls clamber on at the ports of us. Attracted to our kindness or vulnerabilities. Because irrespective of our holes, we possess and we learn to master a mind set to mend.

Our ship may not always be sea worthy, we know the negative effects of stormy weather. Yet the sun in our eyes is both alluring and blinding. We have a warming passion to charter to happier waters, and a desire to fly a flag of love and integrity, because we’ve not known it firsthand.

Consequently, we welcome one and all. And many long haulers talk of shared hands-on-deck – but merely languish on our ship, zapping up our rays, drinking our energy.

As we mature, we realise that the sea beneath is soothing, and we charter to the Morality of Soul Island. It isn’t as densely populated as you may think. Those passengers who’ve yet to help you at the heavy helm – will have their tickets checked by the wordless wisdom officer.

And when you look at your real mates, you see a life buoyancy shared. They have never been beguiling, transactional nor self-serving. They have stood by you as equals, at the wheel of you, as you have served them too…

Real friendships run effortlessly, with intuitive grace, and on fuel of true love, which never dries up, nor leaks, because the investment is as pure and expansive, as the sky you sail beneath. Friendship is a rare beautiful sun in our skies.

Yearn to say goodbye to weighty passengers on your ship. There is limited space in your engine room.

And when you rest-up in your bunk tonight, contemplate the starry night – remember to first be a friend to number one: work outwards from you.

I hope you find this helpful.

SUNNY wishes,

Emma x
