Our self-worth can sometimes swing off balance, like a child knocking into an old pendulum clock. Similarly, it is usually other peoples’ actions, or inactions- that render us the need to orientate our sense of self-worth. If you’ve endured poor friendships then to help you synchronize; it is necessary to explore the components of who you are.   Last week I spoke about the importance of valuing our values. I likened these foundational personality pillars to our skeletal composition, or in the clock example, the wooden casing.

Our self-worth is our psyche, or the mechanisms behind the clock face, which operate the whole structure. The ornate outer face, is how and who we present to the world. In genuine people, these elements are one, and work in perfect harmony, healthily, like our functioning bodies, or the components of a fine clock.

Therefore, to restore our wobblily self-worth, though a little maintenance is required: if we are honest and value integrity, there is no need for a full restoration – job, just a little tweaking. A simple brushing off the dust and oiling us back to who we are.

Here’s an insight into what my maintenance looks like:

  • Am I ticking along consistently: Listening more than chiming?
  • Am I looking after those closest to me, inviting them to lean on me?
  • Are those same few, as attentive to me?
  • Are all my relationships working in harmony, naturally upholding the same values as me?
  • Am I consciously aware of the gift of being human: to learn, impart share and unify?
  • Do I maintain daily gratitude for my ability to still walk, for maturing wisdom, and for all the countless ways that I am fortunate?
  • Am I investing in myself, taking actions over talking?

It’s constructive to do regular maintenance, and tweak the cogs of self-worth, cleaning away the outside dusty influence. Recalling we only have control over what we do, and what we say.

I will tick along, with the fortunate desire to maintaining the clock of me, and I value every knock and dent on my life journey so far. I will not allow the woodwork of me to get further scorched. I have repositioned myself to where I give and receive authenticity, and I am free of the gunk of transactional love.

I hope you find this helpful.

SUNNY wishes,
