When we feel it’s a mountainous road to arrive at the juncture of concentration, then we can fall prey to procrastination, or mean and unhelpful self-talk. We end up sitting in the trudge of inactivity, yet nobody else can sweep away the tumbleweed on our life aspirations or journey.

We must appeal to the child within, parent assertively to it, and give ourselves the promise of a quick stint of moving the things we need or want forward coaxing our subconscious minds to follow suit. Popularized by David Allen, in his book “Getting Things Done” – he says that if a task takes two minutes or less, then do it now.

You can get into the habit of setting a timer, reward yourself with a refreshment break after a goal of example: ten two-minute tasks achieved.

Similarly, if you are feeling anxious about starting a desirable new task, ask yourselves “How much do I want to get better, or good at this?” It’s a fact that the closer a pursuit is to your heart, then the stronger the likelihood of the ivy of procrastination – which will threaten to loosen the foundation of concentration.

You may find that you foster delay tactics: – emptying the washing machine, scrolling for inspiration or otherwise. Before you know it, your allocated precious time, demands of you elsewhere. But the two-minute rule works in this scenario too. Because procrastination is often fear based, or imposter syndrome: outwit it! And don’t believe your inner narrative, remember that our minds are like wayward children. Appeal to them and state to yourselves that you’re only going to spend two minutes: – opening your new paintbox/ get on your exercise gear / walking boots / starting the first page of your book etc. Taking the action is key because our brains get absorbed in the doing, and the negative emotions slide out of mind.

Before you know it, thirty valuable minutes have been invested and you’re nourishing your soul, advancing your health or career in ways which have been calling you to engage with, often for years, purely because you forgot the power of your enviable human choices.

When you habitually manage your mind in this way, you can enhance your will by getting outside because we are intrinsically connected to the empowering vibrations of Mother Nature.

Even if your mobility is troublesome, simply sitting amongst the natural world truly provides clarity, purpose and soul oxygen. It is also a beautiful potent relaxer of a busy mind.

I hope you find this helpful.

With SUNNY wishes,
