Working on something we love doing is ace and lots of fun.  We get kissy-eyed thinking about it, and do it as much as we can. Mine is writing and the book I am working on. But it is a solitary job, requiring consistency, drive, passion, and the endurance of self-doubt.

Lots of factors can threaten to pull us off focus, just when we must maintain it.

We need to find our handy source of personal fuel and use it as a soul adhesive. First, we need to drill down for the raw material, to bind us to our commitment or passion.

Sit somewhere comfortably, preferably outside, and give yourself an essential ten, fifteen-minute break from your work, and remember by simply doing so, you will hydrate your energy. Now, close your eyes and inhale through your nose, hold to the count of four, then exhale through pursed lips, also for the count of four. Repeat this four times. Do three sets. This takes less than five minutes.

When you open your eyes, sit still in the moment, and observe the space, the river, the trees, the magnetic beauty surrounding you. It all looks brighter. It is a mind clarity makeover, and you have washed the debris of your head windscreen.  The bird song, the trickle of the stream, wind or sea, and the flowers will feel vibrant, full of vitality, and you will begin to feel recharged viscerally.

Welcome to the entrance of your personal fuel tank.  Now think of some glorious memories which make you smile, giggle even. Start noticing them within the atoms of you: your body. Whereabouts you are feeling those fab popping candy tingles? In me it is at nape, my back. But I have been closely in tune with my body for five years; I notice my personal fuel, at my extremities, my stomach, etc.

You have reset your mindset ready for productivity; and any negative thoughts that try to buzz around your peripheral vision, pretend to swipe them away. Motioning your arm at imaginary flies is good to include, it accentuates the quality of your personal fuel.

Now go and get yourself a refreshment, food – if it’s time to eat. An energising piece of fruit, if it isn’t. All the while, you’re getting you drink, or food- keep those images – in your mind’s-eye, popping up delightful bubbles. What jokes were you sharing, what was the occasion?

Now, as you sit at your desk, and you have gently rolled your neck, your shoulders, and stretched: look at how much more awake you feel. Your “I got this” happy vibe is smiling at you from your tummy. You can still feel those pleasant tingles. Now propel that joyous energy, your personal fuel, and have a super-productive day.

Call upon these amazing human powers – whenever you want. It’s free, and incredibly helpful.

With SUNNY wishes,
