Enjoying a sense of self-pride makes you stronger, and I know so from firsthand experience.

This is because until five years ago, I largely functioned in autopilot mode. I found it hard not having my wonderful daughter live at home with me, and although she had flown the nest a few years prior, during the restrictions of the lockdown, I missed her even more.

It was also the time when the cerebral palsy became further challenging, and I lost all my clients. I was always good in work mode, but realised it wasn’t my soul-calling or passion. I guess that I should have been proud; I had my own one girl marketing and PR business- but I wasn’t. Then I recalled that mother was disparaging about everything I did. At least I had identified the ugly blocker of self-worth.  It was a eureka moment.

So, that dawning on me, and to avoid surgery, and keep mobile, I finally woke up to my physical and mental wellness needs. It was during this time that I started exercising within the restraints of the disability, and ensured that I eat the daily recommended quantities of fresh, or frozen fruits and vegetables.

My first reasons to be proud, and I continue to add to these, helped by picturing and motivating self – as though I were a sapling growing into a fully formed tree.

We don’t have to be a surgeon or scientist to evoke a sense of pride; we merely need to identify the hindering roots within our psyche, as though they are a weed, and remove them from our mind.

Everyone has reasons to be proud. You might be kind to other humans, our animal kingdom, or that you have saved a plant from withering in poor soil, just because you took the time to nurture it. Pride starts from a little seed, when you allow your sunny soul the light and space you deserve.

Equally, and especially if you are feeling low on self-esteem, try recalling and jotting down things you have done that made a sense of pride glow within you. Rehydrate those feelings in your real time.

Have you become more organised for example? There is power in this, even if you have finally donated unloved clothes and items to a charity shop: you are helping those more needy than you.

Or, have you finally started helpful positive self-talk. Are you dedicating vital time to yourselves to relax, enjoy a hobby, crafting, reading, enjoying nature. Each unit counts, see them as soul pennies that help clear your busy mind, stimulate a sense of clarity and pride.

When we accomplish anything, we automatically feel stronger. We don’t need to spend money to make us feel better about ourselves. We are fueling number one with unique personal energy for the individual that we are… every new petal of pride counts. One gentle step at a time.

I hope you find this helpful.
