Often the invisible restraints of an unhealthy childhood: portcullis us, in our adulthood.
We don’t know why, but something seems to prevent acting on a dream, or goal that we want to achieve. They are the echoes of limited belief: bestowed on us by our abusers.
The likelihood is that you don’t even notice such restrictions because they’re deep in your subconscious mind.
Having spent most of my adulthood conditioned by my own head, the purpose of this post is to help you notice the residual ivy, which makes you over-look that you’re a free agent, able to make your own decisions.
Remember, you are permitted to make your own choices, and shape your own goals. The only permission you need to seek, is that of your very own!
Having only been fully consciously awake for eighteen months: I am observing many unhelpful weeds, now fully exposed in my mind’s eye. The more I address, the more wizened they become. And many of these mind-blockers are daft or innocuous.
I’m not talking about innovative trailblazing pursuits, moreover the simple awareness of the green light stuff, that has been out of order for years. Because, once these foundational roots are fixed, then we pave the way, with an increased ability to focus on our dreams and goals.
For instance, it didn’t occur to me until three years ago, that by exercising and eating properly: I can help support the cerebral palsy that I was born with. I subsequently gave thought as to why I’d not looked after myself properly before. The answer was simple, that my mother hadn’t bothered, therefore it wasn’t in my sights either.
I’ve also started using delightfully scented and relatively expensive fabric conditioner. It surprised me that I’d not used it before. Or when I occasionally bought some, it was the thin cheap stuff which smells like plastic. Yet I love scents and am a big fan of essential oils, and perfume. Of course, the scents I love are directly linked to my late grandmother, who as a nurse diagnosed my disability before the doctors did, and played a key role in my early years.
The reason I’d steered away from the luxury of fabric conditioner, was because mother liked cutting corners; every domestic chore was largely undertaken by me, and timed. I’d be issued with a hefty to-do list, and woe betide me if I hadn’t completed it.
Although I use light-weights to help build strength, these too sat on a shelf, unused for a decade or more. I was literally blind to the fact that I even owned them.
I feel incredibly blessed to at last be consciously awake, and that I’ve finally managed to largely mute the narrative of yesteryear. I am now a free agent, and I hope that you can also soon become one too.
I hope you find this helpful. SUNNY wishes Emma x
