According to studies a smile is contagious. When you see a smile, your orbit-frontal-cortex activates, which processes sensory rewards. Therefore, when you catch another person smiling you feel rewarded: a good feeling, which causes a smile…

Having just enjoyed the best day of my life, my daughter got married last week: I thought I’d share the smiles with you; perhaps you may like to siphon-off my glee, to help give you a lift at the start of the week?

My daughter and son-in-law, both work for the emergency services: collectively they save lives, and work incredibly long hours’. So, whilst a marriage is about making a bond between two people who love one another; the ceremony also felt like a day of appreciation for the kind and selfless humans, – who happen to be my family.

Mingling with some of my oldest friends’, and meeting the grooms’ wider family, truly was a mindful festival of mutual love, and the widest smiles, which like the sun, shone on every guest’s face.

As the mother-of-the- bride, I was blessed that many people wished to approach me; either to pay me compliments about the happy couple; yet, equally to share stories about how the selfless pair have helped them.

Because in addition to their hefty shifts, both bride, and groom, – also give up their modest sliver of spare time to volunteer their services in the charity work that they still do.

Of course, they fill me with immense pride; I’m incredibly blessed to have them in my life. But it’s the intensity of the love and smiles that still renders me to be in a floating-like state of glorious happiness…

Perhaps, you’ve been to a live football match, or partied at a festival: in a collective space whereby, everyone is simply beaming with joy. It’s a truly magnificent sensation, to be smiling in a state of utter bliss.

Isn’t it funny how as humans we can affect one another’s mood, non-verbally. Yet we see this in our animal kingdom too. Think about a pack of lions snoozing under a shady tree. Or a herd of elephants enjoying a communal bath in a river together. They share a collective energy.

Setting aside the obvious financial cost of a celebration; most of the happiest peaks are enjoyed by purely soaking up the vibes in a happy atmosphere: smiling and spreading smiles doesn’t cost a penny; and yet we’re all much richer when we share love and kindness.

I hope this is helpful.

SUNNY wishes,
