The over-whelming vibe of saying goodbye to 2022: relief!
Everywhere I looked, people seemed to be sheep-hooking 2023. Or, running towards it, as though to a cuddly warm relative. There were more fireworks locally, than there’s been for several years.
We’re all so relieved to be starting a fresh year. The feeling is visceral, and in spite of our woes, at least we enjoyed some sweet-eating: more gratefully received treats with the hefty cost of living…
In our contented rested selves, we might be feeling a super-charged sense of energy: girl or boy power: invincible Spider-girl in my case.
But actually, I’m choosing to walk through the door of maintaining the relief vibe. I don’t wish to set a lofty resolution list. Besides the majority of us tend to neglect them after three months, and doing so only hinders our sense of self-worth.
Instead, I’m going to ride the thermals of relief, as though it were a magic carpet. I’ll be aiming to make these feelings last because I want to practice keeping calm, since this emotion is “married” to relief.
I’m not a naturally calm person, yet I know that our minds are far more efficient in this mode; and realise that worrying does nothing to solve our problems. This will be my primary wellbeing focus for 2023. I am rewarding myself for every hour that I keep mindful of this fact.
We humans are an intricate box of wayward emotions, but we can’t forget that our intellect is in charge, just like a teacher is of their pupils. With a calm mind, I can look at my problems pragmatically, and know that solutions will present themselves to me.
It requires hourly management: my late dad’s words are written everywhere, they instruct: “Keep cool cat”, and I’m already noticing the pleasant sensation in my tummy, through repeating this positive affirmation.
So, I’d say that rather than setting super-hero goals this year, it’s far more beneficial long-term to pick one of your emotions that you’d like to improve on. Because whenever we try to resolve our problems, or simply as we’re trying to navigate our lives; it is frequently our untamed emotions that clutter the paths in our minds.
I hope this is helpful.
SUNNY wishes,
