Under a cloud of worry, it’s easy to fall into the habit of existing on auto-pilot. It’s not sustainable though, and you deserve better!
We humans create, invent things. We are social creatures. We like giggles, eating out, holidays, etc. We are not robots!
But, we can plan for nothing at the moment, and it can render us anxious, lonely, depressed, and withdrawn. There’s been an alarming increase in prescribed anti-depressants over the last year; attempting to seek mental health services is an almost impossible feat.
This is why it’s so important to do any act of self care or self love that you can manage.
I don’t know how badly you might be suffering with your mental health, but I do know that for some people, even getting out of bed is a challenge. This is why attainable and small positive changes are so important. Essentially, you are creating and finding new stepping stones, as though you have fallen into an uncertain jungle. It’s no wonder that many of us find existing as we are, so hard.
But you deserve to keep going, however cluttered your head is. You must celebrate every single positive change, and utilise the energy you gain to help prop you up whilst your mind is fragile.
In my case, I’m enjoying porridge every day. I’ve kept the small positive change up for some time now, and when I eat it, I praise myself for making another healthy choice. I literally say: “Well done Emma!”. I think of it as a small mend in my health, and at my hands. I feel pleased with myself and am grateful for the lift in my mood.
I’m trying to make more helpful changes, but only as many as I can manage. Think of simply one small change in your lifestyle that you’d like to make – it could be as simple as drinking more water!
We are broken, fragile humans at the moment – but we are an almighty, clever species who deserves to get better: one small step at a time.
