Irrespective of the new strain of COVID, too many people surged to the shops.
Just a couple of days before the Christmas restrictions, people were still queuing from 5am for many British supermarkets to open! Given that most people were only allowed members of their immediate household, – to enjoy the festivities, I wondered why?
It made me think, “can it wait?” – and which other areas of our lifestyles can we apply this notion to?
Surely, until we have all had the vaccination – which for some may be at least a year away – for the sake of our mental health, we ought to try and reduce our superfluous stresses?
We’d be advised to adopt a “make do and mend” philosophy, much like our grandparents did in the World Wars; as indeed our heroes must have done, fighting for our freedom.
Moving forward into an uncertain 2021, where many of us have lost our jobs and have experienced tragic loss due to the virus, unless we take a step back and favour more humble lifestyles, we will make ourselves mentally unwell.
If we adopt a “can it wait?” outlook, or think to ourselves “do we really need it?”, then this shift in our thinking will bolster our fragile mental health.
Try drawing inspiration from other cultures. Watch some documentaries about how other countries live, as it will give you a fresh perspective over what really matters, and what in your agenda can wait.
