When we ponder on our ruminations with a fresh mind, i.e. after a good night’s sleep, we’re often further ahead in knowing what our answers are than we give ourselves credit for.
As an example, like so many of us, I’ve been worrying about my business. It’s not easy finding new work during such uncertain times. I’ve spent much time ruminating about this, until one morning, I woke up feeling calmer. I didn’t know why this was at first, so I sat with a more positive feeling over toast and tea and tried to figure out why I wasn’t feeling so angst.
I put on some relaxing music and sat in the moment.
Actually, what I was really doing, was finding the “thread” of my subconscious thinking and pulling it through, like a ball of wool, towards my conscious state of mind: the more practical part of my brain.
The previous night spent ruminating in the bath was not a waste of time. Little did I realise then, that in the depths of my thinking, answers were taking shape.
So, after breakfast, I opened up my laptop and made a revised financial forecast. I could see far more clearly how I could manage and plan when new revenue streams occur.
