The animal kingdom offers us multiple examples of creatures embracing change for their wider existence. Let’s look at dogs – the breeds as we know them today evolved from the daring wolves who’d get close to fires, making friends with man for free fodder!

Whether we like it or not, we are embarking on a new era of many changes. We will not necessarily be able to control the many ways that our lives will change, so we’d be well-advised to embrace them as we encounter them. Some of you, for instance, may have overseas holidays booked that you won’t be able to go on. Instead, consider places in your own country that you’ve longed to visit and enjoy those unchartered lands instead.

Many of you will have got used to working from home, so make the most of doing so moving forward. Continue structuring your day as though you were in the office, and embrace the perks that come with working from home, such as working in your pyjamas, getting up a little bit later and not forking out for expensive lunches.

When it comes to the anxieties we suffer due to the uncertainties ahead, such as money troubles or re-building our businesses, remember that worrying about them only causes us more anguish and costs us our productivity. Use the extra time you have to embrace the changes which lie before us and try to boost your productivity. Try jotting ideas down in a thoughts book; look for new niches in the market you work in; discover new skills that you can acquire or take a free online course; improve your IT knowledge or set up a consortium of like-minded people. Embracing change is never easy, but we can help to make it easier by channelling our energy into new ideas, furthering our skill sets and planning our time wisely.
