Everyone seems tinged with sadness
It’s true, we are. Times are hard. But can we draw comfort from knowing we are not going through things alone. Every single person you meet has had some form of sadness in their life, and we all develop our own ways of coping. Sometimes the people that seem the happiest are the ones who are struggling the most.
I can’t express the importance of realising that you are NOT alone. Ever. Everyone goes through tough times, and if you have someone close in your life who you trust, why not try speaking about how you feel, and asking them what they do to help them through difficult times? Talking about something that is troubling you can make you feel so much lighter – the old cliché “a problem shared is a problem halved” is very true.
Sometimes, you may be the person who someone comes to with their problems or thoughts. And that’s an honour! Someone has trusted you to talk about how they feel, and may be doing so to gain some guidance from you. Sometimes it’s hard to know what to say to someone in that situation, or how best to support them – just remember, at the very least, being a listening ear is extremely helpful. Getting something off your chest is a huge relief, and if you can be that person for someone going through difficult times, then you’ve already helped massively just by listening. Remember, being kind to people is so important. And lending a listening ear can lift an enormous weight of someone’s shoulders.
