It’s only dawned on me recently, that if we’ve never known maternal nurturing, then we have no idea that it’s even missing in our lives!

Yet it’s very constructive, and handy stuff to grow. It’s giving of self: bouncy inside tummy smiles. It’s the joyous sensation of feeling lighter- in-step, as we go about our day. It’s the, “wow I feel sharp and focused” frame of mind: Knowing that providing you stay focused:  you KNOW you’ll get heaps done…

But how can we do this, and with little or no effort? Where’s an easy place to start: – for those of you who may feel that you’ve tried introducing this: healthy soul nutrient to you: but you keep forgetting to sustain it, and then you get cross with number one: which isn’t helpful either.

Please feel free to copy my own-grown technique: –

I self-narrate the day, it’s as though I have a built-in, would-be mummy manager.

It starts with the basic morning beginning: “Come on darling, I know you can’t be bothered to eat, but if you do, then you’ll feel all zingy, and you won’t get distracted.”

And, similar mummy-like motivating words I use to keep me exercising: “How about another stretch, because I really don’t want you to have surgery, and then I’ll get you a nice cup of tea and rub your feet” (with this one I pretend Debbie Harry is saying it)

But I also vary the language throughout my every day of self-narrating, picking a turn of phrase, that feels advisory, kind, and supportive, here’s a few examples: –

1: “I’d get your handbag ready now darling, while your dinner’s on, then you don’t have to do it later”.

2: “How about popping a plaster on that darling”

3: “Hey darling, shall I come and give you a hand with that veg, think of all the goodness you’ll get once it’s roasted”.

4: “Now, let’s pop a cushion on the sofa, and I’ll make you a nest. I think you need to rest your leggies”

5: “I’m proud of you Emma- Jane”. This is every night when I look at my wonderful late daddy. His wide gold -teeth grin and huge loop earring. “I told you; you’d be able to walk, remember?”

By making a conscious decision of self-narrating- you will feel more focused… And I’m happy to admit I do so daily; when I sometimes forget, applying as soon as I remember: I truly feel content, secure and happy with myself for using this handy technique. I have given myself a busy tail purely by self – nurturing number one!

I hope you find this helpful.

SUNNY wishes,

Emma x
