The more you believe, the more you achieve!
A little bit of thinking and then…
The possibilities start buzzing around in our minds. They evoke pleasant skipping feelings in our tummies. We feel like jumping on the spot, dancing with thrill. Those feelings equate to handy units of energy – which help lift our moods! And then you enter the ‘thinking more constructively’ version of you. You move with purpose…
If you feel that you have no one to chat with about your hopes and dreams – then read about well-known people, who you admire and who inspire you.
(Build on getting yourself stronger, tiny manageable steps at a time. Don’t waste your energy comparing yourself to others. There simply is no point – it’s you that counts!)
Find out about how celebrities you like achieved their hopes. Some of them, like Lady Gaga or Davina McColl for example, have had incredible childhoods…
But, they don’t have to be famous at all. You might want to be a plumber for instance, and there’s a great chance to earn a good wage. You could get to know about a reputable one where you live. If you ask them if you can to be an apprentice with them, after the “no’s”, you will strike lucky and get a YES! It’s the same format for anything you want to do. It’s about putting out well thought-out feelers… you could meet new people, some you may wish to become friends with too.
And try to revisit to this site – see who else has added their thoughts on our: who page… could they help you to ignite a dream?
Or do you fancy scrolling down to read some short stories from inspiring ordinary people…
I hope they help to lift you… even for a few minutes!
The boy with green hair:
I recall Peter telling me that he used to be worried about his shy geeky son. One of his angsts, he knew, was that he had a fragile soul. He also had a shock of lime green hair. Additionally the talented 14 year old suffered from acne.
Somehow, the brave young guy plucked up the courage to convince Nickelodeon to see him…
As his father waited on a park bench in London, he felt apprehensive. But he knew that his son was brilliant at sketching cartoons. He’d been reminding his son about the pride he felt, throughout the entire train journey up…
The teenager approached his anxious father. Nickelodeon had offered him immediate work experience!
So, in spite of all the negative things the boy thought about himself – he’d reaped the reward by daring to make new connections…
Baldev Duggal:
I am saddened that I didn’t meet the incredible man with the biggest heart. The magical late entrepreneur was a close friend of my late father’s. He founded Duggal Imaging Solutions. They are based in New York and world famous. Most of the huge posters on buildings you see – many memorable cool ones – have been created here….
The virtually penniless teenager had taken his chances. Alone on a boat from India, and driven by wonderment. He wanted to be a photographer. He loved technology, and arrived in New York.
Just the brave young man, with an old fashioned “Brownie Camera” and not much else. For weeks he treaded the pavements doing jobs for little payment.
But he soldered on. And then, by utter chance he got asked to help cover a story. A local paper had a big story to cover: Marilyn Monroe was singing at a large well known venue.
Disappointed, Baldev was ordered to cover an exit. The dusty one which barely got used. He was wedged between a pillar and the awkward design of the walls and couldn’t see the stage very well.
He sensed the wary vibes from the well-seasoned photographers. He kept hopeful.
And then the unexpected happened. He was agile and small. He heard the click of metal and the scurry of footsteps. It was his jealous colleagues, but they were too slow.
The blonde bombshell wafted casually past him. He captured a stunning close up of her winking straight at the lens with puckered lips!
The next morning, the newspaper gave him a useful pay check!
Baldev never stopped giving and he never stopped dreaming. He also told me that he was worried about the children in a particularly challenging borough of New York. He was concerned that they might forget their dreams. He worried about the negative affect all the violence they saw must have on them. He gave every child a camera and told them to “Take pictures of your dreams!”
Marjorie Fraser:
Marjorie was a fabulous Londoner. She was an “Eastender” and did my late father’s book-keeping. The character with the same name in my story is based on her. She was full of laughter and adored wearing garish make up. She was in her late seventies when I first met her. Her bright red hair always makes me smile when I think about her. She was forgetful, and sometimes put garlic in cake. She was driven by her extensive charity work and much about the harvest supper event in the story is true.
The larger than life adorable character had every reason to fall. Both her adult sons lay in graves in the gardens of the rural church her house backed on to…
And she also looked after Walter. Her kindly gardener had no family. She cooked his meals every day and drove him back the mile or so to his house.
When she was over eighty years old she started her own knitting business.
Adam Lawrence:
I don’t regret what I went through, because it made me the person I am today, but I do regret the hurt that I caused to people close to me.
I was one of those people that didn’t talk, bottled it all up and it nearly cost me life, don’t be one of those people.
